यूनान के प्रसिद्ध दार्शनिक प्लेटो का जन्म करीब 428 ईसा पूर्व हुआ था। इन्हें अफलातून के नाम से भी जाना जाता है। प्लेटो सुकरात के शिष्य थे। शिष्य बनने के बाद वे सुकरात के अंतिम दिनों तक साथ ही रहें। यूनान के एथेंस में इन्होंने एक अकादमी की शुरुआत की थी। प्लेटो की मृत्यु करीब 347 ईसा पूर्व हुई थी।
